Entry Requirements

Completion of Level 1 Plumbing course and tutor recommendation.

Description

This course is designed to give students a qualification in plumbing, providing the knowledge, skills and understanding required to gain employment or progress to a Level 3 qualification. 

Course Content

You will receive instruction, guidance and encouragement to practise and develop the skills necessary to achieve the award.

This course will give you the basic knowledge and skills to carry out works in the plumbing trade by studying units including Health and Safety, Scientific Principles and Hand Skills. It will also allow you to transfer to an Apprenticeship.

Attendance of 100% is necessary in order to complete the course.

Method of Assessment

The course is continuously assessed with some external assessment and testing through written and practical assignments and tests.

Functional Skills

There are timetabled sessions designed to enhance skills in English and Maths, separate certificates will be issued on successful completion of the programme.

Other Studies (enhancement)

You may also choose to study for a GCSE to increase the number of your qualifications, or to resit a previous GCSE subject to improve a grade. To enhance employment opportunities the course may also have additional qualifications built into the programme.

Other Activities

Each course offers appropriate work experience to complement the knowledge and skills you will learn at College.

Progression

This course is a recognised route into a Level 3 course, employment or an apprenticeship via a training agency.

Equipment

Students will be required to purchase personal protective equipment (boots, overalls and safety glasses). Items can be purchased directly from an approved college supplier at an approximate cost of £40, order forms will be provided during new student day.

Consumable Items

Each student is responsible for purchasing general stationery items.

Course Fees

Aged 16-18

If you are aged 16-18 on or before 31 August 2014, tuition and registration fees are free.

Aged 19+

If you are aged 19 or over on 31 August 2014, tuition and registration fees are payable at the start of each year of study.

Loans

If you are aged 24 or over on 31 August and are studying at Level 3 or 4, you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learning Loan.

Staged Payment

A staged payment plan is available.

Reduced Fees

Fee concessions may be available if you are out of work, on low income or studying for your first Level 1 or 2 qualification.
