Descripton
The course focuses on developing textile
design skills within three specialist areas
–
print, weave and knit. It is designed for
students who wish to pursue a career in
textile design within the fashion industry.
It aims to produce creative and versatile
designers with a sound knowledge of textile
design that can be applied to
fashion.
You will work in a
supportive environment
that
promotes the integration of visual
research, technical skills and
business studies.
During the course your critical
and aesthetic
judgement will be
developed through the
exchange of ideas with staff
and students.
There are many
opportunities to exhibit your
coursework and to develop
professional
presentation skills.
Teaching and learning occur in a
variety of
formats, including
workshops, tutorials,
lectures and
seminars. Group and individual
tutorials will help you to plan for the future
and identify your personal career path.
Regular critiques and group
presentations
will help you
develop skills in self and peer
assessment in preparation for
employment
in the industry.
Entry requirements
You must be at least 18 years and have achieved 120 UCAS points through one of the following:
- Foundation Diploma
- National Diploma
- A Levels
(these qualifications alone will be considered with an appropriate portfolio of work).
In addition applicants should have:
- GCSE English grade C or above.
- IELTS score of 6 where applicable.
If you do not meet with the above criteria but can demonstrate enthusiasm and creative ability, we would be delighted to consider your application. At interview you would be asked to present a portfolio of relevant work.
