The College
Life @ BCoT
Student Social Area
Students wishing to unwind between classes can enjoy games of table football, pool and table tennis in the Student Zone at BCoT. The facility also includes a TV and cyber zone and attracts students from across the college.
Student Union
The Student Union is run by students at the college for the benefit of every student. An elected group of students form the Executive which meet regularly with each other and senior management to ensure the student voice is heard and effectively represented. The SU also arrange social events, activities, fundraising and charity events. Previous events have included an End of Year Party, trips to Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Blackpool and the Clothes Show, Meet Your MP, paintballing, table tennis and producing the college magazine.
All students become members of the BCoT Student Union which is affiliated to the NUS. Every student can purchase an NUS Extra card which entitles you to a great range of discounts on clothes, food, music, cinema tickets and lots more around Basingstoke and the rest of the country.
Student Success Scheme
Student Services award certificates
throughout the year with a special lunch
and presentation in the summer term to
those students who have been nominated
by their tutors as showing special effort,
positive attitude, mature behaviour and
good attendance.
Introduction to BCoT Day
To be held on Thursday 1 July 2010, this is an opportunity for all new students to spend a morning at the college, meeting other students and staff in their chosen curriculum area.
Learner Involvement
Every tutor group will elect student representatives who have the opportunity to discuss all aspects of college life.
Meetings take place throughout the year to ensure that there is a greater insight into the student perspective. Actions are then drawn up by the staff from senior management.
Enrichment
All students are encouraged to become involved with the
enrichment programme which is a series of free activities open to all
alongside your main programme of study. Taking part in an activity
helps develop existing skills or create new ones, gain additional
qualifications, enhance CVs and university applications and gives the
chance to meet other students from across the college.
Also as part of the enrichment programme students are able to take GCSE Maths, English or Science if a grade D was achieved at school.
Have you an interest in something not running yet, if so, join up with others to form a club – we will give you all the help and support you need to get started – film club, signing group, trips out? The choice is yours.
BCoT Christian Union
A chance to meet up with other students – everyone is welcome. Meets once a week.
Fairtrade at BCoT
We are committed to support the sale and use of Fairtrade products around the college. We also take part in this initiative both in and out of college.
Fairtrade products are available in the refectory, coffee shop and college shop.
