“When I searched schools and colleges in my area, I was unable to locate one that focused on Games Development. When I discovered that BCoT did, I was very pleased.

When I first visited the college, I learnt a great deal about what I could expect from the course. I was even given information on the routes I could take after I had completed it. Having gone over in detail what the course involved, I knew it was the perfect stepping stone to a career in the games industry.

I’ve always been interested in video games and wanted to gain experience in the subject, but never really liked the idea of going to university. Initially, I was overwhelmed at the skills I had developed as I learned how to present my ideas and use some of the leading software.

I always had a clear idea of the specific area of the games industry I wanted to go into. However, I aimed to gain a good understanding of the industry as a whole, knowing that I would have the skills to progress further if I wished, such as 3D modelling, sound editing, games platforms, image editing and games testing.

I am especially proud of the confidence I have received from being on this course. We are encouraged to act independently and I feel this allows me to absorb information more effectively. My most memorable moment was the trip to the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany. Not only did I get to see the latest and upcoming games, but I got to explore the town.

If I ever had a problem, I was always able to talk to my teachers. They provided me with clear and useful feedback on my work, so I knew exactly what I had to do to get a higher grade.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in a career in video games. The course covers so many areas that it is a perfect foundation if you are unsure of what you want to do and the department is fully-equipped to meet the needs of the course.”
