This is a one year course designed to give students a recognised qualification in the field of sport and leisure. It is a new course for those interested in working in a sport or leisure environment.

The Basingstoke College Of Technology football development scheme, now the Football Academy, had its first professional footballer sign a 3 year deal with league one sign Peterborough United. The football scheme has been running for 7 years in association with Basingstoke Town Football Club and has had several semi professional players, including Ben, who has been at Basingstoke Town and Hampton & Richmond in recent years, but his signature is the first professional contract signed by a former BCoT student.
Ben studied on the National Diploma and HND Sports courses at the college and believes the new football academy scheme is an excellent opportunity for hopeful footballers to develop and improve their talents.
Academy Manager, Steve Allison revealed that “Ben was one of our brightest talents but also realised the value of a good education. He deserves his chance in the professional game. The academy scheme is an excellent opportunity for players to study whilst playing football in a semi professional environment”.
Trials for September 09’s intake will be held in June and information can be obtained from Steve Allison by emailing him on steve.allison@bcot.ac.uk.
