This Level 2 course is ideal if you are new to animal care or have some knowledge and basic skills. You want to develop your skills, perhaps to start work in a pet shop, animal shelter or kennel or prepare for further training.
You will receive instruction, guidance and encouragement to practise and develop the skills necessary to achieve the award. The course covers a wide range of subjects including:
? Animal Health
? Animal Biology
? Animal Handling
? Work Related Experience in Animal Management
? Animal breeds and grooming
? Care of Exotics
? Animal behaviour
? Plan and Monitor Animal Feeding
? Manage Animal Accommodation
4 GCSEs at grade D (preferably to include English, maths and a Science).
Mature students are welcome.
All students must provide evidence of valid tetanus immunisation.
The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies. Students will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on their own and in groups. The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local businesses wherever possible.
A certificate or diploma in Animal Care or Animal Management is designed to help you find work with animals such as; - Kennel/cattery worker
- Pet Store assistant
- Welfare charity worker
Successful completion of this course would allow you to progress to the Level 3 BTEC in Animal Management at BCoT or a related Apprenticeship/employment.
