Doing an apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to learn and earn at the same time. You will come to college one day a week to learn the theory and practical elements needed to achieve a fully qualified status.

This 3-year apprenticeship is aimed at learners who would like to become Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technicians (Light Vehicle).

Course Content

A Motor Vehicle Technician services and repairs light vehicles such as cars and vans and works either in dealerships that focus on a particular manufacturer, or for an independent garage that deals with many different makes of vehicles. They work on all the systems found within the vehicle. The nature of the work ranges from replacing simple parts through to solving complex faults with the use of diagnostic methods and equipment.

Units include routine servicing to maintain performance, identifying and rectifying faults, meeting customer requirements.

Entry Requirement

GCSE English and maths at grade 3 or above, or Level 1 Functional Skills, or completion of our Future Pathways course.
You will need to be employed, or find employment in the motor trade.
