Course Overview


This apprenticeship is ideal for those who are seeking to start a career within Team Leading.  It develops the skills and knowledge required for a successful career in all aspects of Team Leading, and focuses on leading and managing a team, communicating work related information and managing own personal performance and development.


This apprenticeship is delivered on the job, within the workplace. Your apprentice will benefit from excellent teaching and training from our industry qualified and highly skilled assessors.  Assessors will work closely with you to ensure the skills being developed reflect your requirements. 





 

 

Course Content

The apprenticeship requires a selection of competency and knowledge based units.

Learners need to complete all mandatory units to a total of 40 credits, there are 22 credits to be achieved through mandatory units which include managing personal performance and development, communicate work related info, lead and manage a team  and two knowledge based units called the principles of team leading and understand business.

There are the several optional units to select, including

  • Develop working relationships
  • Manage team performance
  • Lead meetings
  • Manage conflict
  • Participate in a project
  • Deliver customer service
  • Negotiate in a business environment

To complete the apprenticeship, the learner must also complete:

  • Functional skills for English, Maths and ICT at level 1.
  • Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)
  • Employment rights and responsibilities (ERR)

 

Entry Requirement

Learners must be employed in a suitable team leading or supervisory role.
An initial assessment will be carried out and learners must achieve at least Level 1 in English and maths.
A Combined (Competence and Knowledge) qualification is a work-based qualification. Candidates will complete an initial assessment to establish suitability, designed for team leaders and managers, to support the development of their skills and competences in leading a team.

Assessment

This apprenticeship is delivered through a range of assessment methods including observations, discussions, case studies, knowledge questions and witness testimonies. The functional skills exams are online assessments, delivered in the work place. The principles units, will be taught in the classroom again, there are options for this, meeting employer and learner needs.
