Course Overview

The qualification is tailored to suit the learner and employer by choosing most relevant optional units, which gives learners opportunity to:

  • develop and demonstrate technical and wider sector-related knowledge to underpin competence in the learners job role.
  • develop and demonstrate a range of technical skills and behaviours that supports competence in the job roles stated above.

 

This includes:

  • communicating verbally and in writing
  • preparing business documents
  • organising and supporting meetings and events
  • managing information and diary systems

Course Content

The programme requires a selection of competency and knowledge based units.

 

Learners need to complete all mandatory units to a total of 40 credits, there are 22 credits to be achieved through mandatory units which include:

  • Managing Personal Performance and Development
  • Communicate Work Related Information
  • Lead and Manage a Team

 

and two knowledge based units:

  • Principles of Team Leading
  • Understand Business

 

There are the several optional units to select, including:

  • Develop working relationships
  • Manage team performance
  • Lead meetings
  • Manage conflict
  • Participate in a project
  • Deliver customer service
  • Negotiate in a business environment

 

To complete the apprenticeship, the learner must also complete:

 

  • Functional skills for English, Maths and ICT at Level 1.
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

Entry Requirement

A Combined (Competence and Knowledge) qualification is a work-based qualification. Candidates will complete an initial assessment to establish suitability, designed for team leaders and managers, to support the development of their skills and competences in leading a team, making sure that the team’s work achieves organisational objectives, and contributing to planning, problem solving and decision making.

Assessment

This programme is delivered through a range of assessment methods including observations, discussions, case studies, knowledge questions and witness testimonies. The functional skills exams are online assessments, delivered in the work place. The principles units, will be taught in the classroom (or at the workplace at request of the employer).
