The Apprenticeship framework provides the skills, knowledge and competence required to become an IT, Software, Web or Telecoms Professional in a wide range of job roles such as: IT Software Developer, Web Developer, Database Administrator, Telecoms and Network Engineer and Software Tester.
The Apprenticeship programme combines skills and knowledge with employment in an IT role, meaning that apprentices are paid throughout the programme. Apprentices can apply and improve their skills in the workplace to complement the instructor-led learning. Learners will attend college 1 day per week.
Course Length: 18-24 months
Course Location: Workplace plus 1 day a week at college
Course Fee: If applicable
Start Date: Every six weeks
This Apprenticeship programme covers a range of practical skills and underpinning knowledge and includes the following components:
1. Level 2 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT & Telecoms Professionals (competence)
2. Level 2 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles (knowledge)
3. Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT (Level 1)
4. Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
5. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) - mapped into the Diploma
5 GCSEs grade D or above including English, Maths and ICT. Candidates must be employed in an IT related role.
The Level 2 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT & Telecoms Professionals is assessed in the workplace via observations, collection of evidence, witness testimonies and professional discussions. The Level 2 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles is assessed in college via assignments.
