Course Overview

This qualification is suitable for anyone considering a career in the health or social care sectors. You may wish to access this training with a view to progress to further qualifications to gain a more in-depth understanding of specific health conditions, to progress to competence based qualifications or to complement other qualifications within apprenticeship frameworks within health or health and social care.

Course Content

This course consists of one mandatory unit and a number of optional units; you will usually need to take 4 or 5 optional units in order to achieve the full qualification.

Mandatory unit:

  • Understand how to contribute to monitoring the health of individuals affected by health conditions

 

Optional units:

  • Understand cardiovascular disease
  • Understand respiratory disease
  • Introductory awareness of sensory loss
  • Stroke awareness
  • Diabetes awareness
  • Arthritis awareness
  • Dementia awareness
  • Understand the impact of acquired brain injury on individuals
  • Understanding mental health
  • Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
  • Understand physical disability
  • Parkinson's disease awareness

Entry Requirement

This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and above.

There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification.

Assessment

Your learning will be assessed through a portfolio of coursework and assignments.
