Course Overview

Whether you have some experience already - or have 'graduated' from our Beginners course - this evening class gives you the opportunity to practice and refine your decorating skills using some more advanced techniques.

Course Content

This qualification, supported by Improve, the Food and Drink Sector Skills Council, has been developed to give you an understanding of cake decoration and design techniques, offer professional development, and enhance future employment prospects.

You will complete this qualification with a comprehensive understanding of the following:

  • How to decorate with royal icing and sugar paste
  • Modelling techniques
  • The personal responsibilities of current health, safety and hygiene legislation
  • Optional units include:
    • Handling Chocolate and Producing Chocolate Goods
    • Produce Novelty Cakes

    Entry Requirement

    Either a level 1 in cake decorating or suitable industry or life experience working with sugar craft or royal icing.

    Assessment

    This course is all practically assessed.
