BCOT's Plans
About BCOT
Basingstoke College of Technology (BCOT) is the leading provider of vocational education and training in mid and north Hampshire, serving the needs of over 2000 full-time and 5,000 part-time students.
BCOT offers education and training in all the main vocations, at all stages from entry through Levels 1 to 4, with some degree work and apprenticeships. Whilst all areas of the curriculum are represented, the College is regarded as a regional centre for hair & beauty, construction, engineering and motor vehicle, retail and hospitality. BCOT gives young people the opportunity to reach their potential, aspiring to careers they may not have previously considered.
For adults it provides facilities and support to train and re-train throughout their working lives. BCOT has the national Training Quality Standard recognition for employer responsiveness and vocational excellence in Construction & Interior Skills and is a Centre of Vocational Excellence for Retail & Associated Logistics.
Why move?
- BCOT is already passionate about vocational education and training and has so much more to offer individuals who want to learn and employers who are looking for good skills to keep their organisations, and the economy, buoyant. A new building will support Basingstoke’s status as a Diamond for Growth.
- BCOT’s existing buildings are spread across two sites and three outreach centres. This greatly reduces the fl exibility of space, with duplication of some facilities, and prohibits the development of a cohesive approach to education provision and social interaction in the College.
- In the not too distant future, the ageing buildings will be unable to provide the quality and flexibility of learning space that is necessary to deliver BCOT’s 21st century vision for education and training.
- Building on a new site will be far quicker and effi cient and far less disruptive to students, allowing them to continue with ‘business as usual’ until the new facilities are completed.
- A new location for BCOT will also benefit everybody in Hampshire who wants success, by providing a state-of-the-art building that will raise aspirations and provide inspiration for all students, staff, employers and members of the public.
