BCOT's Plans
Inside the new BCOT campus
The new BCOT campus is based around a covered ‘learning street’, from which students and staff access workshops and classrooms.
The campus is designed over a maximum of four fl oors. The new building can accommodate large spaces for training workshops, but also smaller spaces for classrooms, tutorial rooms and offices.
The internal space in the new campus can be easily adapted over time to allow for BCOT’s developing needs. This will enable BCOT to refl ect changes in the demand for different courses and will allow learning spaces to keep up with innovative approaches in BCOT’s delivery of its curriculum.
The design provides a large, open space at the heart of the College in which students and staff can meet and socialise, but which can also be adapted for other uses – such as hosting public exhibitions.
The ‘learning street’ at the heart of the design
The new BCOT students and staff are involved in many different activities which need to be linked together in a coherent way. This sketch shows how the layout of the various college departments evolved
