BCOT's Plans
BCOT’s vision for relocating to the Kingsclere Road site
A move to the Kingsclere Road site is an excellent option for BCOT. After a three year search, this is by far the preferred choice as the College would be located in an exciting, inspirational and modern building which is highly visible on a principal road close to the town centre. It would form part of a wider development that will contribute to the economy, education and community life of Basingstoke.
Re-locating to Kingsclere Road will give BCOT:
- An opportunity to inspire people to engage, stay and progress in education by offering training in 21st century facilities.
- A single site, allowing full integration of all College services.
- An opportunity to support the proposed Learning Campus as part of the wider site development, providing a much greater focus on further and higher education and innovation in the region and a university presence in the town.
- A stronger role in supporting the business sector in Basingstoke and beyond by training even more people who will develop skills for use in the local economy.
- Flexible spaces for vocational learning allowing the College to respond quickly to changes in demand for particular specialisms.
- The ability to meet the demands of the new diplomas and other future developments in secondary and further education.
- Accessible spaces for the public to engage with the College – through hairdressing and beauty training salons, a training restaurant, and space for art exhibitions and other community uses.
- Proximity to the town centre.
- Access to good transport links, particularly the railway station and existing bus routes.
