Employability and Work Skills

We are pleased to offer a range of short courses that can help you to get back into work, or to help you find another job if you are facing redundancy.  As a leading provider, we ensure that all of our courses are of the highest quality and meet the needs of you, the community we serve. They are specifically designed to help you gain new skills, confidence and hopefully employment opportunities!

BCoT works closely with local authorities, employers and other agencies to provide fully-funded education and training for the unemployed, the unemployed on benefits and employees.

Employability

This course will help boost your confidence, whilst offering you the skills and motivation to apply for new jobs. You will have the opportunity to obtain a recognised qualification and work with experienced tutors to find a direction that works for you and get advice on job searches, CV writing and applications.

Business Administration

This course is aimed at those who have previously worked in an office environment or wish to work within business administration. The course covers a number of units such as principles of working in a business environment, producing business documents and managing personal performance and development. You will achieve an accredited BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Principles of Business Administration.

Adult Social Care

This course will help you prepare to work within the health and social care sector. Areas of study include principles of adult social care, protection and safeguarding, mental health and dementia awareness. You will gain a Laser L1 qualification in Adult Social Care.

Childcare

This course will offer you the skills and qualifications to work in childcare. You will have the opportunity to achieve a NCFE qualification in Introduction to Caring for Children and Young People and obtain your Emergency Paediatric First Aid Certificate.

Cleaning

If you are looking for cleaning work, this course will offer you the skills and qualifications to help you get that job. Areas of study include principles of cleaning, identifying risk and responsibility, standards of behaviour and work schedules. You will have the opportunity to gain a Level 1 Award in Cleaning.

Construction

The course is designed to offer you the skills and qualifications to work in construction. The course will include employability skills training, the opportunity to achieve a CITB Level 1 Health and Safety qualification, get advice on CV writing and applications and have the chance to sit your CSCS test.

Hospitality

This training programme will offer you the skills to work in hospitality. You will cover customer service and food safety leading to achieving a Level 1 qualification in Customer Service and Hospitality obtain your Level 2 Food Safety qualification.

Retail

This course offers you the skills and motivation to get into work in a retail environment. The course will help you to work within the retail sector and how to apply for vacant positions. Topics covered include customer service and understanding the retail selling process. You will achieve a Level 1 qualification in Customer Service and get advice on CV writing and applications.

Warehousing

This is an introductory course into working in a warehouse. Topics covered include health and Safety, manual handling, team work and picking/packing goods. This course will help you achieve a Laser 1 qualification in Warehousing and get advice on CV writing and applications.

Computing and IT

We also offer Beginner and Improvers ICT courses, which can lead to studying a Functional Skills Level 2 ICT qualification.

Security

We also offer the Security Industry Award (SIA).
