Sector Based Work Academies

We offer employers the option of interviewing our learners for employability following a short employer led course. We would like this to be a solution providing service for any interested employers, and we can offer qualification courses that will cater for their specific requirements. The Employability Team can create funded tailored employability preparation courses to prepare the candidate for employment and the specific company culture of the employer. We have delivered bespoke courses in hospitality, retail and warehousing.

How does it work?
• Job Centre Plus selects and refers interested candidates for a specific employer.
• BCoT can provide facilities and tutors to conduct a bespoke employer led course.
• The employer is then able to interview and select from a work ready group of candidates who have been specifically trained to fill their current vacancies.

Benefits
• Employer can hire specifically trained local workforce that can integrate with their company culture
• Employers have the opportunity to establish and build a positive relationship with their local community and have a positive impact on the local community.

Topics covered include
• Literacy and numeracy assessment
• Information, advice and guidance ILP
• Customer Service
• Food Safety

Many of the courses we deliver attract full or part funding from the Government, making them free or a reduced price for individuals and employers.

Full funding is often available for:

  • some industry-specific qualifications
  • Functional Skills (English and Maths) at all levels
  • Apprenticeships for 16-18 year olds
  • an individual’s first Level 2 qualification
  • an individual’s first Level 3 qualification if they are aged 19-25 year and don’t have Level 2 qualifications

Partial funding is available for the following qualifications; we would usually expect the employer (not the individual) to fund the balance:
