Computer Science

Computing and information technology has now become a vital part of our world as we know it. Construction, Plumbing and Electrical

The demand for skills tradespeople continues to grow and our industry standard workshops in Basingstoke and Bordon provide the perfect backdrop for you to build your career in the construction industry. You will learn from industry trained teachers using the latest facilities and equipment. A chartered Engineer can earn over £60,000 in their first year of employment. Our courses are tailor-made to meet the needs of local employers and help you progress to university. We work with local employers who will provide you with industry standard projects alongside your classroom studies. Our Engineering department promotes the highest standards of work, and is one of very few engineering training facilities approved by three professional engineering institutions: Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institute of Measurement and Control, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology. English and Maths

English and Maths are essential for you future. When you join us, if you do not have a minimum of a GCSE grade C/4 and above in either, you will have to retake alongside your studies. This will be through GCSE classes or Functional Skills in English and/or Maths if you are below a level 2. Future Pathways

Our Future Pathways programme is our Level 1 equivalent, designed for those who don’t have any GCSE results. This foundation programme will prepare you for entry onto a relevant Level 2 course.

The programme is designed to:

  • Help you focus on achieving your English and maths qualifications 
  • Develop your employability skills with a strong work experience requirement
  • Give you the opportunity to try a number of technical skills
  • Help you choose the right course to progress towards your goals

Hairdressing and Barbering

Gaining professional qualifications in hairdressing and barbering is the best way to start your professional career in the male and female grooming industry. Our outstanding training facilities and links to some of the top salons in the country make BCoT the perfect place for you to develop your skills. Led by experienced staff in both the hair and barbering industries, you will learn the core skills required to work as a Hairdresser or Barber. Health & Social Care

This rewarding profession covers all aspects of health and social care and prepares you for a career in this most valuable industry. With the NHS being one of the largest employers in the UK our courses will prepare you for careers in allied health or social care settings. You will not only focus on learning the underpinning theory for your course but will also have the opportunity to put this into practice through work experience and work placements. Hospitality and Catering

Our Hospitality and Catering courses have gained a superb reputation based on the performance of our students, who learn in industry standard training kitchens and a real working restaurant. Students are taught by expert tutors who bring their industry experience to their teaching. Students learn everything from food production and culinary skills to drinks service and licencing along with event management. Media and Music

With the enormous growth in the digital media industries, our courses will prepare you for careers in the many diverse areas or higher level study. You will have the opportunity to work in our recording studios, Mac suites, DJ room and our specialist Games Development room. We have a team of highly experienced technicians who can support with software skills. We have an excellent track record of industry relations and some impressive work experience opportunities with companies such as Premier Business Audio (voice overs) and Black Hanger Film Studios (Green Screen techniques). Public Services

If you have a passion for serving the public either through the police, fire or ambulance services or the armed forces then these courses provide the perfect foundation for your future career. You will be introduced to the exciting and challenging world of the public services. You will have the opportunity to work with the Metropolitan Police, Royal Marines, RAF and Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service. You will take part in a range of activities and have visits to places such as RAF Odiham, Hampshire Police and Basingstoke Fire Station. View Public Services here.


If you are excited by understanding the world from a scientific perspective or pushing boundaries and creating new knowledge then our applied science programmes could give you just the interesting career you are looking for. You will get the chance to study in our modern laboratories using excellent equipment including finger printing and forgery detection apparatus and microbiological facilities including aseptic work spaces, cultures and fermentation equipment. Previous students have had work experience with paramedics, at hospital laboratories, an Arson Unit and forensic departments at QinetiQ and De La Rue.
