BCoT held its first virtual open event of the academic year on Tuesday 13 October.
The creative team from 'British Hair' gave a masterclass in cutting short hair to BCoT’s Level 3 Hairdressing students.
Simon Ostler, founder of 'British Hair' and his Creative Director Amanda came to the College to do demonstrations and give students the chance to practice cutting techniques. Simon explained that due to current trends, there is a real shortage of opportunities for trainees to cut short hair. He said:
“Over 75% of women now have shoulder length hair so there are fewer occasions for hairdressers to practice cutting and styling short hair. With the help of some willing models, we have been able to demonstrate the latest cutting techniques to students which is an invaluable part of their learning.”
Sue Scott, Course Director for full time hair and barbering courses at BCoT arranged for Simon and Amanda to come to the College. She said that giving students the chance to learn from other industry experts is a vital part of their training in becoming professional hairdressers, adding different techniques on cutting hair.
