On Monday 26 March, Hair and Beauty students from Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) raised £500 for St. Michael’s Hospice, North Hampshire at a charity fundraising event. The event, organised by BCoT students as part of their qualifications, saw all profits from their appointments donated to the Hospice alongside a raffle with prizes kindly donated by a number of local businesses. The support of local businesses, including Basingstoke Aquadrome and Hollywood Bowl, gave the afternoon a real community feel.Speaking about the event, Anthony Bravo, Principal of Basingstoke College of Technology, said: “We are extremely proud and privileged to support St. Michael’s Hospice at BCoT. Our students worked incredibly hard to organise and promote this event and to raise £500 for St Michael’s Hospice is a fantastic achievement.”Lynne Grimshaw, Community Campaigns Coordinator at St. Michael’s Hospice, added: “It was a real pleasure working with the Level 3 Hair students from BCoT, their enthusiasm was infectious and their hard work really paid off. The afternoon would also not have been possible without the support of the Hair and Beauty department tutors, and a big thank you to them for generously agreeing to donate the profits from the afternoon to the Hospice.”Evolve Salon at BCoT is open to the public and provides students the opportunity to offer professional treatments at reduced rates, under the supervision of professional experts.
