Auto students visit international show

Students discover the latest technologies in motorsports.

On Friday 11 January, more than 20 students from Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) visited the Autosport International Show at the NEC in Birmingham, where they had the opportunity to see the fastest cars and biggest stars from the world of motorsport.

Level 2 and 3 automotive students, as well as students from BCoT’s specialised motorsports course, visited the show to discover the latest technologies in motorsport and performance engineering, and explore the range of careers available to them in the motorsport industry.

Students received personal advice on how to build a career in motorsport, with industry experts sharing top tips about the industry throughout the day, and they enjoyed a 60-minute live action show, which included racing, driving demonstrations and stunts on the UK’s largest indoor racetrack.

Anthony Bravo, Principal of BCoT, said: “Experiences in and outside of the classroom ensure our students can acquire the skills and experience they need for a successful career after studying with us. Trips such as this one provide our students with the opportunity to learn from industry experts and meet leading businesses and organisations in their chosen field.”

The day also saw former F1 driver David Coulthard take to the stage to give a special presentation about the W Series – a forthcoming women’s racing competition.
