Interested in an apprenticeship or want to find out more about them?
Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) has announced the launch of a new range of professional and leisure courses for adults. The exciting programme, which starts from September 2019, is ideal for anyone keen to retrain, develop their career or simply looking to take up a new hobby.
Commenting on the courses which range from Level 1 through to higher education and university level, Principal Anthony Bravo said: “This is a great opportunity to start something new and with such a wide range of courses conveniently and flexibly available during the day and evenings, there really is something for everyone. Whether looking to develop professional beauty skills in our hair, beauty and barber salons, car maintenance skills in the automotive workshops or develop a creative talent with courses such as Silver Jewellery in the Art Studios, you will learn from expert lecturers in outstanding industry-equivalent facilities.”
For those with jobs or a home life which demands even more flexibility, BCoT also offers free distance learning courses which are ideal for building your CV and demonstrating a commitment to continued professional development. For those who want to go to university but don’t have the qualifications to get a place, BCoT also offers a range of Access courses which are run over a year. This intensive but supportive route provides the academic skills and knowledge required to start a degree programme and can kick start a new career in business, engineering, computing, psychology, social work, nursing, sports science or veterinary studies.
Mr Bravo adds: “As well as being an accredited-study centre for professional marketing, human resources and accounting courses, we also offer free GCSE Maths and English to those who don’t already have a grade C/4 or above and courses for those looking to learn English as a second language. We are really keen to start adults on their learning journey and equally to provide high level professional development courses to enable people to become more knowledgeable in their area of expertise or to develop their career potential.”
BCoT’s creative courses are always popular and this year includes new courses such as Calligraphy, Crochet, Macramé, Photoshop for Beginners, and Glass Fusion. Other adult courses new in the 2019 programme include Dog Grooming, Level 4 and 5 Sports Massage and Level 4 Counselling.
A range of funding options are available including discounts for those unemployed, on benefits or receiving a low income. Advanced Learner Loans, which are not dependent on income or credit checks, are also available to help cover the cost of course fees.
The new adult course guide will be available in libraries and community centres around the borough or can be downloaded now. It is also being distributed to homes across Basingstoke situated in the RG21, RG22, RG23 8 and RG24 postcodes. A 10% discount is available on all course tuition fees if you enrol and pay in full before Wednesday 31 July 2019.
