Year One: Level 3 BTEC 90 Credit Diploma in Animal Management
Year Two: Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Animal Management

This two-year Level 3 course will allow you to go into employment or to enter university to carry on your learning in the animal management industry at a higher level. This course covers a wide range of subjects including animal health, biology, anatomy and physiology, handling, as well as animal nursing, welfare, breed development and much more.

Entry Requirement

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths, or a relevant Level 2 qualification.
  • Other pathways at Level 3 are available for students who need to re-sit either GCSE English or maths.¬†


The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies.

Learners will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on their own and in groups. The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local businesses wherever possible.

Where does this course lead to

This course is a recognised route into Higher Education. Students may progress to a Higher National Diploma or Degree course.

Employment opportunities include animal sector (kennels, catteries, pet shops, animal welfare organisations, animal collections and so on) at supervisory or managerial levels based on ability and experience.
