Ready to start your career journey into the animal management industry? This one-year course is for you if you are new to animal care or have some basic knowledge and skills. During the course you will learn about animal health and biology, animal handling, breeds and grooming, care of exotics and feeding and accommodation.
You will receive instruction, guidance and encouragement to practice and develop the skills necessary to achieve the award. The course covers a wide range of subjects including:
You will need GCSE English and maths at grade D/3 or above or Level 1 Functional Skills or successful completion of our Future Pathways course. You must provide evidence of a valid tetanus immunisation.
The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies. Students will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on their own and in groups. The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local businesses wherever possible.
A certificate or diploma in Animal Care or Management is designed to help find work with animals environments such as;
- Kennel/cattery worker
- Pet Store assistant
- Welfare charity worker
Successful completion of this course would allow you to progress to the Level 3 BTEC in Animal Management at BCoT or a related Apprenticeship/employment.
