This Level 2 course is ideal for learners new to animal care or have some knowledge and basic skills. You want to develop your skills, perhaps to start work in a pet shop, animal shelter or kennels?
Prepare for further training!
You will receive instruction, guidance and encouragement to practise and develop the skills necessary to achieve the award. The course covers a wide range of subjects including:
? Animal Health
? Animal Biology
? Animal Handling
? Work Related Experience in Animal Management
? Animal breeds and grooming
? Care of Exotics
? Animal behaviour
? Plan and Monitor Animal Feeding
? Manage Animal Accommodation.
4 GCSEs at Grade D or above, preferably including English, Maths and a Science. Mature students are welcome.
All learners must provide evidence of valid tetanus immunisation.
The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies. Students will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on their own and in groups. The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local businesses wherever possible.
A certificate or diploma in Animal Care or Management is designed to help find work with animals environments such as;
- Kennel/cattery worker
- Pet Store assistant
- Welfare charity worker
Successful completion of this course would allow you to progress to the Level 3 BTEC in Animal Management at BCoT or a related Apprenticeship/employment.
