This one year course comprises of a number of core units that will allow you to explore a range of art and design disciplines.
You will have access to well-equipped studios with professional machinery and materials. The course is carefully structured to enable you to achieve your potential, culminating in a final major project as part of your progression to Level 3 Art and Design or employment.

Students will be introduced to a wide range of techniques and learn new processes within Art and Design including, observational drawing, painting, black & white darkroom photography, digital photography, Photoshop, textiles, printmaking, 3D processes, including wood, metals, plastics and glass, mould making and laser cutting.
This will take place over six units throughout the academic year and will explore a range of Art and Design disciplines before taking more ownership in their final project of the year and selecting which media they would like to progress with.
Project work is supported and inspired by a wide variety of trips to London, Oxford and Portsmouth to exploring art galleries and museums to gain primary research and inspiration.
Students are expected to study for an additional 5-10 hours outside of timetabled hours.
4 GCSEs grade D (or 3) and above or equivalent.
Continuous assessment takes place throughout the course through assignments based upon current art and design practice. All work is produced through coursework and projects. There are no exams.
The course uses practical activities to assess coursework, including peer review, self assessment, presentations, practical activities and exhibitions.
Recognised route onto the Level 3 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Art & Design or employment
