Introduction to Sewing

Part Time

Course Overview

A fun and creative course in textiles that will enable the learner to complete a variety of sewing projects within a well equipped studio.

Course Content

Students will produce decorative pieces such as bunting, wash bags and zippered pouches, place mats, napkins, cushion covers, aprons, door stops, simple toys, patchwork quilts, and tote bags. Make use of our professional fashion studio equipped with large pattern-cutting tables and industry-standard sewing machines to transform those old garments, fabric scraps, ribbons, trimmings, buttons and beads that you have been collecting for years into beautiful home accessories and gifts for every occasion!

Suitable for beginners to the sewing machine or those with more experience who want to enjoy developing skills within a class setting under the guidance of a skilled tutor. Some fabric, threads and buttons are available but students will be expected to collate and bring in their own pieces for the ideas to reach their full potential.
