This apprenticeship programme is designed for people who are aiming to achieve part qualified status leading to the opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship, which will lead to fully qualified status as a Light Vehicle Technician. The course develops the manual skills and theoretical knowledge required for progression and the focus is to develop each individuals skills in routine maintenance of vehicle chassis systems, transmission, electrical and engines. There is an emphasis on health and safety throughout.Your apprentice will attend college one day per week and will benefit from outstanding teaching and learning from our industry experienced and qualified teaching and assessing team. Teaching and learning takes place in our purpose built STEM building where your apprentice will have access to our fully equipped, industry standard automotive workshop.
When setting up the apprenticeship, the automotive team will work closely with you to ensure the skills and knowledge developed by your apprentice reflect the requirements of your business.
Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is expected that all students will enter for the qualification.
You will need GCSE English and maths at grade D/3 or above or Level 1 Functional Skills or successful completion of our Future Pathways course. You will need to be employed in the motor trade (we can help with finding relevant employment).
The Level 2 Diploma in light vehicle maintenance and repair (principles) is assessed in college via online testing.
The Level 2 Diploma in light vehicle maintenance and repair (competence) is assessed through the creation of an NVQ portfolio including job cards and assessor observations acquired in the workplace.
