Course Overview

The Level 5 Award in Management and Leadership lets you strengthen and develop your knowledge of middle management by focusing on specific management areas that are applicable to your job.


It is a distance learning 25 week course where you will be expected to complete work based assignments using an e-portfolio system.

Course Content

CMI Level 5 Award in Management and Leadership Learners must complete at least one unit to a minimum of 40 TUT hours to achieve this qualification. 


Typical units include:

  • 501 Principles of Management and Leadership in an Organisational Context
  • 526 Principles of Leadership Practices 

Entry Requirement

Minimum English and mathematics at GCSE grade C (4) or equivalent. 

You may be asked to complete an initial assessment on line to identify your level.

Assessment

Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.

The assignments will be uploaded to an e-portfolio, marked and quality assured before certification.
Please be aware that you will be expected to use  Harvard Referencing and Turnitin to ensure all work is not plagiarised.

Where does this course lead to

  • Progress to other qualifications at the same level (e.g. from Level 5 Award to Level 5 Certificate etc.)
  • Progress to other qualifications at the next level (e.g. from Level 5 Certificate to Level 6 or 7 Certificate)
  • Level 5 Apprenticeship in Operational Management (if you meet the criteria)

Learners who are aspiring to a management role may progress to roles such as:

  • Operations Manager
  • Divisional Manager
  • Departmental Manager
  • Regional Manager
  • Specialist Manager
