Course Overview

<span lang="EN" >  The training focuses on teamwork and regulations within the industry, but also teaches theories of Lean management. 

<span lang="EN" > As part of the training, the group of apprentices will plan a change within the workspace and present it to management for approval.  This project will be carried out under the supervision of the tutor.

The qualifications include the following units:

Certificate in Lean Organisation Management

1. Lean Organisation Techniques

2. Productivity Needs Analysis

3. Process Mapping

4. Kaizen

5. Workplace Improvement Techniques

6. What makes an effective team?

7. Working in a team

NVQ Diploma in Business Improvement

- Working with assessor to implement ideas discussed in the first 6 months

- Put business case together for approval

- Carry out change process

- Evaluate change/effectiveness

- Further planning

Entry Requirement

A minimum of Entry Level 3 in English and maths, tested by initial assessment.  Learners must be in a job role that will support a business improvement project.


Assessment is continuous and evidence of competence is collected via an electronic portfolio.  An assessor will visit the workplace and use a variety of assessment methods, including observation, discussion and questioning.

Where does this course lead to

Many learners move on to an apprenticeship in management, or progress to the level 3 apprenticeship in quality improvement.
