Course Overview

If you are looking for A change of career or to enhance your current skills in bookkeeping and accounting,

This course is aimed at anyone wanting to learn how to do business bookkeeping, or learn a new skill, and will enable you to gain the basic skills in bookkeeping and accounts,  following the Level 1 Bookkeeping and Accounts qualification of the City & Guilds Examinations Institute.

Course Content

Subjects covered include:

  • Check documentation and calculation of sales tax, trade discount, settlement discount, prices
  • Completion of day books and post transactions
  • Transfer to ledgers
  • Two and three column cash book transactions and postings
  • Bank reconciliator
  • Petty cash
  • Initial trial balance

Entry Requirement

Good basic numeracy and literacy skills. A quick discussion with the Course Director is required


1½ hour examination

Manual Bookkeeping Level 2.

Progression to the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting Level 2
