Course Overview

Completion of all modules on this course  course will enable candidates to obtain an Advanced Diploma in Accounting Level 3 qualification. 

This qualification has a UCAS tariff of 56 for a Distinction achievement, 48 for a Merit Achievement and 40 for a Pass Achievement

This module is one of 7 required to complete the Level

The advanced level modular mode of study is designed to assist students who have maybe started to study Level 3 and had to change their plans but have a few modules to complete or students that feel they need more than one academic year to complete the level.


Course Content

Final Accounts Preparation

  • Distinguish between the financial recording and reporting requirements of different types of organisation
  • Explain the need for final accounts and the accounting and ethical principles underlying their preparation
  • Prepare accounting records from incomplete information
  • Produce accounts for sole traders
  • Produce accounts for partnerships
  • Recognise the key differences between preparing accounts for a limited company and a sole trader

Entry Requirement

Applicants will usually have completed the Level 2 Certificate in accounting or other appropriate qualification and need to have good basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Students with vocational competence will be considered but may be required to take an entrance test. For students that did not complete Level 2 at BCoT an interview by phone or face to face with the Course Director, Financial Programmes, is required

Assessment

Computer based assessment for this module will count towards the overall modules required for the Advanced Level 3 qualification

Where does this course lead to

Successful completion of the Advanced  Diploma in Accounting Level 3 could lead to students being accepted onto the Professional Diploma in Accounting Level 4.
