Management Accounting: Budgeting - Level 4 AAT Module (Day)

Course Overview

Completion of six units in the course aims to enable candidates to obtain a Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting qualification AQ2016 with 41-46 QCF credits.

Course Content

Completion of the required six modules will enable you to achieve the AAT Level 4 Diploma in accounting.  This course will help career progression, provide a recognised professional qualification and act as a stepping stone to higher level Chartered (ACA) Certified (ACCA) or Management (CIMA) Accounting qualifications

Full AAT Level 4 Qualification requires:

Four Mandatory Modules:

  • Financial Statements of limited Companies
  • Management Accounting -Budgeting
  • Management Accounting - Decision & Control 
  • Synoptic Assessment (Inc' Internal controls & Accounting systems)


Plus two units from the following:

  • Personal tax
  • Credit Management
  • Cash Management
  • Business tax
  • External auditing


The Management Accounting-Budgeting Module covers:

  • Prepare forecasts of income and expenditure
  • Prepare budgets
  • Assess the impact of internal and external factors on budget
  • Demonstrate how budgeting can improve organisational performance
  • Report budgetary information to management in a clear and appropriate format.

Entry Requirement

Applicants will usually have completed the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting or other appropriate qualification. Students with appropriate vocational competence or other appropriate qualifications will be considered but an interview with the course tutor is required


This unit will be assessed by way of a computerised examination. Successful completion of all exams will result in the qualification being awarded.

Where does this course lead to

Successful completion of the Level 4 Diploma could lead to students being accepted onto the professional Accounting qualifications Chartered (ACA) Certified (ACCA) or Management (CIMA) Accounting.
