Course Overview

This course is aimed at 19+ learners who perhaps don't have the traditional qualifications, but who want to study Computer Science (or similar) at University.

Course Content

The computer science element of the course will focus on Programming and Networking as well as IT Systems support. This will give you a solid platform to progress onto university to study a BSc in Computing or a HND (or equivalent) at BCOT.

The course will share common units, such as study skills and science, with other departments such as Access to Health and Applied Sciences.

Entry Requirement

You should have a minimum of GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or above, or completed our Progression to Access course.


You will be assessed through the completion of a range of assignments and projects; there are no formal exams for this course.

Where does this course lead to

This course is designed to get you to University and is worth between 48 and 144 UCAS points (for September entry), depending on the grade you achieve.
