Course Overview

This qualification is primarily aimed at practicing electricians with relevant experience and other allied professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants and other trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of IEE Wiring Regulations.

This qualification ensures that you are up-to-date with the latest industry regulation on wiring and the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems. It covers the 18th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, which came into force in January 2019. These regulations are recognised by the British Standards Institute as a British Standard (BS7671)

If you're a practicing electrician, you must comply with the regulations for electrical work, this qualification is designed to provide those seeking progression in their career with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the Electrotechnical industry.

Why take this course?

Essentially you will want to make sure if you are working in electrical installation that you are designing and installing to the latest regulations. In fact every installation from January 2019 will need to be designed in line with the 18th Edition wiring regulations. Anyone looking to register with a competent person’s scheme will need to prove they are up to date even if they have already completed a Level 3 NVQ. Also anyone looking to register with the new ECS Check system will need the latest

Course Content

The key thing about wiring regulations courses is that they are not designed to teach you every regulation in the book but are more focused on how to reference the latest regulations as you would on the job. As such key topics currently covered on The course will still be included:

  • Assessment of general characteristics
  • Protection for safety
  • Selection and erection of equipment
  • Inspection and testing Special installations or locations Appendices

Entry Requirement

No formal entry requirements. Initial meeting will assess suitability for the course.

Assessment

This course will be assessed through a variety of online exams, written assessments and practical assessments.
