Course Overview

This course is designed to give students a qualification in fitted interiors, providing the knowledge, skills and understanding required to gain employment or progress to a Level 2 qualification in another area using skills and prior knowledge. Progression could then be made to Level 3.

You will learn by a series of extended practical exercises in well-equipped workshops, backed up by relevant classroom theory.

Course Content

You will receive instruction, guidance and encouragement to practise and develop the skills necessary to achieve the award. The course covers a wide range of subjects including: 

  • Carry out safe working practices in construction 
  • Information, quantities and communicating with others 
  • Building methods and construction technology 
  • Install fitted furniture 
  • Install basic plumbing 
  • Prepare for and fit out kitchen and bedroom fitments.

Entry Requirement

2 GCSEs grade D in Maths and English or higher.

Assessment

The course is continuously assessed with some external assessment and testing through written and practical assignments and tests.

Where does this course lead to

This course is a recognised route to a Level 3 course.
