Course Overview

This course is aimed at those wishing to progress on from Level 2 with a desire to gain more in-depth knowledge of wood occupations and the construction industry.

Course Content

The Level 3 has 5 unit/modules and knowledge exams and a practical synoptic end test. NVQ 3 has 4 units and knowledge exams.

Key Skills: All candidates will be expected to achieve key skills to a higher level than they already possess (literacy and numeracy to a minimum level 2).

Entry Requirement

Successful completion of Level 1 and Level 2 Diploma; to apply for the NVQ 3 you need to be employed as a carpenter.

Registration Requirements: In order to obtain NVQs within construction each candidate will be registered with Construction Skills.

Assessment

Level 3 Diploma Continuous assessment in practical and on-line tests for each unit. The complete award is only issued when all the course content has been successfully completed.

NVQ 3 After registration you will be issued with a course assessment and evidence record book, which is used to gather evidence of practical ability from the work place (this evidence is mandatory). Each unit also has a written test paper.

Where does this course lead to

The next step for many students is to progress on to supervision and site management. The BTEC National Diploma in Construction is a recognised route into the management aspects of the construction industry.
