Course Overview

Year one: Level 3 BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Information Technology 
Year two: Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Information Technology 

This is a one year Foundation Diploma, which is a stand-alone qualification. Upon successful completion  you can progress on to second year which is Extended Diploma in Computing.

The course aims to develop your knowledge and practical skills ready for a specialist career in IT or progression to university, with the opportunity to take industry standard qualifications.

  • Creating Systems to Manage Information
  • Programming
  • Information Technology Systems

  • Computer Games Development

Year 2 - Extended Diploma in IT
  • IT Project Management
  • IT Service Delivery
  • Cyber Security and Incident Management
  • Business Process Modelling Tools
  • Three other optional pathways to choose from : The Internet of Things, Cloud Storage and Collaboration Tools, Software Testing, Big Data and Business Analytics, IT Technical Support and Management, Enterprise in IT

Entry Requirement

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths, or a Merit in relevant Level 2 qualification.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed via two externally set examinations and eight internally set assignments.
