Course Overview

Everyone in the corporate world knows that being a manager is a sign of career growth and success. The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) is the UK’s largest management awarding body, combining industry-leading qualifications, recognised training programmes and specialist member services. 


This City & Guilds qualification will give you the insight you need to work in a management role in a variety of settings. It aims to build on your current leadership capabilities and show you how to manage projects, people and relationships. The innovative design of this qualification means you can fast-track your progression to a level which is recognised by employers.

Course Content

This course has 12 units to be completed:

  4. Communication and information systems in the workplace 
  5. Motivation and improving performance 
  6. Career development 
  7. Induction, training and coaching 
  8. Dealing with discipline, conflict and stress in the workplace 
  9. Health and safety at work 
  10. Customer service 
  11. Change management 
  12. Quality management

Entry Requirement

You will need to be currently working in or have worked in an established supervisor, team leader or manager role to undertake this course.

Learners will find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 qualification in a related subject.

In order to complete this distance learning course at no charge you will need to match the following entry criteria:

  • You do not already hold a Level 3 or above qualification or equivalent*
  • Are a resident of the EEU (European Economic Area) and have been for at least 3 years
  • Will be undertaking your learning within England
  • Are aged 19 or above
  • If you are 19-23 years old you must have already achieved a level 2 qualification or equivalent
  • You will need to have a good standard of English and maths

*From 1st April 2022: 
  • Learners are eligible to enrol on a Level 3 National Skills Funded Course if they are employed and are considered to earn a lower income. 
  • Or, if they are unemployed and are in receipt of Universal Credit or Job Seekers Allowance.

  • Learners who are not eligible for funding are able to access this course with an Advance Learner Loan

Assessment

  • Studying via Distance Learning means you can choose when and where you study.  
  • We recommended allowing a minimum of 5 - 6 hours per week to study this course in your own time.
  • You will be given submission dates for each unit to help you stay on track and complete within the allocated timeframe.
