The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a one-year course designed for teachers and trainers in the Post compulsory sector. You will need a full-time role that carries the full range of teaching and training responsibilities. By the end of the course you will be able to demonstrate an extensive range teaching skills and strategies. You will gain an understanding of curriculum innovation, education theories and undertake an action research project that will be supported by your tutor.
This is course is validated by Edexcel. It complies with the new overarching professional standards in initial teacher training required of all teachers entering the sector after 2001.
This level 5 course (formerly known as DTLLS) covers the following modules:

Level 4 Education and Training course or equivalentGCSE Maths and English Level 2 or equivalentEvidence of a minimum of 100 teaching hours in the post compulsory sector (confirmed during interview) over the year of the courseIf English is not your first language: IELTS 6.5 (including 6.5 in writing)
DesirableEducated to Level 3. It is expected that candidates teach within the local area, if this is not the case a charge will be made for observations out of the area - please discuss at interview.
Assessment for the course is through a range of assignments. e.g. reports, essays, presentations and a portfolio. You must have eight observations, four of which must be graded a 'good' or better.
