The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a 1-week intensive programme for delegates working in an education and training role. It’s an introduction to the education and training sector, with three units covering aspects of teaching from the role of the practitioner to the development of lesson plans, resources and the purpose of assessment.
This course will provide you with the skills, confidence and knowledge to embark on a teaching career in the post-compulsory sector or as a trainer. The course is a mixture of practice and theory. There are no teaching requirements to participate.
Applications are welcome all year round.
Intensive courses are available to deliver to organisations upon request, a minimum number of delegates applies.
This is an introduction to all the aspects of teaching from the role of the practitioner to the development of lesson plans, resources and the purpose and organisation of assessment.
Units covered:
Unit 1: Understand roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
Unit 4: Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
Unit 5: Understanding assessment in education and training
There are no entry requirements for this course; however, there is substantial further reading and essay writing and a 30-minute micro teach at the end of the course. An understanding of the post-compulsory sector or training is also advised.
All students are required to complete three written assignments and undertake a micro teaching session to their fellow students. These are submitted in a paper portfolio.
After successfully completing their course, trainees can progress to the Level 4 Certificate followed by the Level 5 Diploma. There is a minimum teaching hours requirement for these - 30 hours for Level 4 and 100 hours for Level 5 and a C grade/L2 in English and Maths.
