Course Overview

Focussing on the major disciplines within engineering, the learner will gain the knowledge and hand skills needed to develop or build on a successful career in engineering and advanced manufacturing. Learners will absorb vital components in Intermediate and Advanced Engineering apprenticeship.

This level is ideal if you're a school leaver with some engineering knowledge and experience, or require further engineering skills. Learners develop understanding and practical experience of specific engineering technologies.

This course can help progression in a wide range of engineering roles including:

  • Engineering operative

  • Engineering maintenance technician.

Course Content

The course covers a wide range of subjects including:

    * Working in engineering.

    * Principles of Engineering Technology

    * Electrical and electronics
    * Electrical systems
    * Wiring and testing
    * Fault finding {for the Electrical/Electronics Group (B)]

Entry Requirement

Basic education.


During the course learners will do a series of practical based activities and create a portfolio of evidence, They will also be online exams to complete.

The course is continuously assessed by assignments and the generation of a portfolio of evidence.

Where does this course lead to

This course is a recognised route into a full-time Level 3 course or employment, including an Apprenticeship.
