Course Overview

This distance learning qualification is suitable for those seeking employment or undertaking an apprenticeship in the Electrical Power Distribution & Transmission industry. 

Course Content

This qualification consists of the following mandatory topics: 

  • Understand legislation in the power industry
  • Mathematics, mechanical and electrical theory in power engineering
  • Power engineering electrical networks, plant and apparatus
  • Power engineering: cables, substations and overhead lines

Entry Requirement

There are no entry requirements for these qualifications. However, centres must ensure that learners have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualifications successfully. 

This qualification is suitable for those employed as a Distribution and Transmission: 
  • Linesperson
  • Cable Jointer
  • Electrical Fitter
  • Technician

This qualification is not approved for learners under 16 years of age.

Where does this course lead to

After completing this qualification learners can progress to the Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Engineering (Electrical).
