Year one: Level 3 BTEC Certificate
Year two: Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma

This advanced level course will prepare you for a range of careers in engineering or further  study at university. You will cover areas including  maths and communications for technicians, workshop practices, computer aided design (CAD), engineering drawing, electrical and  electronic principles, and computer aided  manufacturing.

Entry Requirement

You will need five GCSEs grade A*/9 to C/4, (including English, maths and preferably science) and to have successfully completed the Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Engineering.

Assessment

The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies. Students will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on their own and in groups. The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local businesses wherever possible.

Where does this course lead to

Students may progress to a Higher National Certificate or degree course, or Advanced Apprenticeship. 

Employment opportunities range from telecommunications, electronic and mechanical engineering, design, sales, quality control, maintenance, manufacturing, or production engineering.
