This HNC is a university-level qualification (Level 4) delivered in partnership with the University of Portsmouth at BCoT, it is designed for people currently employed within the sector wishing to progress and to enhance their career prospects.
An HNC provides the opportunity to upgrade knowledge and skills, combining work and study and may be a more cost-effective alternative to university study. This course is equivalent second year of a full time university-level programme and is a part time day/evening release course each week.
You will gain knowledge and experience by analysing and working principles applicable to current technologies. You will develop knowledge and undertake a range of hands on projects, mixed with academic theory. During the course we will support development of key skills, including maths, problem solving, decision making, IT and communication.

Your units will be agreed with your lecturer during your first lesson and these will be assessed by a variety of methods that include assignments, reports and research projects which need to come from your workplace.
The lessons will be delivered via a blended learning approach (distance learning and face to face delivery) this will be agreed with your lecturer during your first lessons.

Candidates must also have qualifications for English and maths at Level 2. You will be required to provide a copy of your certificates or proof that you have completed the required courses at your interview.
You will be required to attend an interview with a member of the faculty staff and to complete a maths assessment before being accepted onto the course which will be discussed during the interview.

You will be assessed by producing evidence that meets the outcomes of each unit usually through the form of assessments.
The assessment is continuous and includes projects and presentations together with any work-related projects that may meet the requirements. It is likely that the evidence provided will include and involve real work based projects from your employer.
Class work will include group work, discussions and formative assessments.
This is a course for WBTC apprentices only and requires an enrolment code to enrol online.
