Future Pathways

Our Future Pathways programme is our Level 1 equivalent, designed for those who don’t have any GCSE results. This foundation programme will prepare you for entry onto a relevant Level 2 course.

The programme is designed to:

  • Help you focus on achieving your English and maths qualifications 
  • Develop your employability skills with a strong work experience requirement
  • Give you the opportunity to try a number of technical skills
  • Help you choose the right course to progress towards your goals

This course is aimed at 16-17 year olds. The course is structured to allow you to try different course areas every half term up until Easter, after which you can decide an area to study further. Subjects available are:

  • Animal Management
  • Automotive
  • Childcare
  • Construction
  • Hairdressing
  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Media and Computing
  • Public Services
  • Sports
  • Travel and Tourism and Business


English and Maths

If you come to us with a D/3 grade in either subject, you will be expected to retake your GCSE in that subject. If you have an E/2 grade or lower, we will ask you to take Functional Skills as a stepping stone towards achieving your GCSE.

Work Experience

Your timetable will include work experience and employability activities. During the year you will complete 35 hours of work experience which will help you learn key skills and prepare for the world of work.
