Level 2 City and Guilds Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery

Course Overview

This one-year course will will provide you with a solid foundation in carpentry skills and includes moving and handling materials and equipment, carcassing, first and second fix, plasterwork and using power tools. On completion of the course you will be able to progress onto a Level 3 course or a higher level apprenticeship. 

This course is delivered three days a week between 10am and 4pm (different days may be available).

Course Content

The course covers a wide range of subjects including:

  • Move and handle resources
  • Contribute to work efficiency
  • Access equipment
  • Carcassing
  • First fix before plasterwork
  • Second fix after plasterwork
  • Power tools
  • Health and Safety

 

 

Entry Requirement

  • Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, preferably to include English and maths

Assessment

The learners are assessed continuously by both practical and written assignments/tests.

Where does this course lead to

This course is a recognised route into a full-time Level 3 course or employment, including an apprenticeship.
