This qualification provides evidence of competence in delivering care within a range of adult care services.
Choose on pathway from either: general, dementia and learning disability. Candidates will be allocated an assessor who visits the work setting every 3 weeks. Candidates need to work through mandatory units plus optional knowledge & competency units.
Nine mandatory units: ++ Communication ++ Personal development ++ Equality and Inclusion ++ Duty of care ++ Safeguarding and protection ++ Role of health care worker ++ Person centred care ++ Health and safety ++ Handling information.
The minimum entry age is 18 for this course. There are no formal entry criteria. Telephone interview required. This is a National Vocational Qualification and the candidate needs to be currently working in a care setting and have 3-6 months work experience.
Written work, observation of work in the setting to demonstrate competence and professional discussion.
Diploma level 3 in Health & Social Care, where job role allows.
