Course Overview

The level 5 Higher apprenticeship in Care Leadership and management is for learners who work in the Adult Social Care sector.

  • It gives learners the opportunity to develop and demonstrate competence in leadership roles within a Social Care setting 
  • Develop technical skills and knowledge and understanding related to the specified job roles above in health and social care or children and young people’s services such as understanding safeguarding, managing health and safety risks and partnership working.
  • Have existing skills recognised
  • Achieve a nationally-recognised Level 5 qualification
  • Develop their own personal growth and engagement in learning

Course Content

This qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to manage practice and lead others in adult health and social care provision or in children and young people’s services. It has five pathways and covers a wide range of topics including:

  • safeguarding and protection 
  • managing care services
  • recruitment and selection
  • supporting development 
  • partnership working 
  • quality systems and improvement 
  • developing and carrying out policy 
  • promoting and developing best practice 
  • care management.
  • team leading

Entry Requirement

A good standard of English and maths is required at least a level 2 functional skills.

The learner must be working in a managerial or senior role in a social care setting

Through a variety of mandatory and optional units, we can tailor your qualifications to suit your particular job role. You will work towards both theory and practical qualifications, to help you build both your knowledge and competence in carrying out your job. The majority of the qualification is completed in your workplace, supported by regular visits from your Assessor.

Where does this course lead to

If all of the criteria is met the learner will achieve a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care. This can be used to continue into further higher education at level 6 or higher
