This fun evening course will give you an introduction to the basics of cake decorating and sugar craft.  Whether you're thinking about icing a celebration cake or just want to make every cake a little more special, this course will get you started.

Course Content

  • This qualification, supported by Improve, the Food and Drink Sector Skills Council, has been developed to give you an understanding of cake decoration and design techniques, offers professional development, and enhance future employment prospects. You will cover the following subjects:

    • How to decorate with royal icing, sugarpaste, and a variety of coatings

    • How to model with marzipan and sugarpaste

    • The personal responsibilities of current health, safety and hygiene legislation

    Entry Requirement

    No formal entry requirements are needed apart from being over the age of 19.


    This qualification is all practically assessed.

    Where does this course lead to

    We will be running the Level 2 Course from April 2017 for eager bakers to progress to if they wish.
