Course Overview

The UK catering and hospitality industry contributes significantly to the national economy and employs many people in a range of public sector organisations, such as hospitals and schools; and private sector businesses such as restaurants and hotels. Hospitality is all about customer service, whether this is making sure food is served on time or that a hotel room is ready to use.

There is a wide variety of roles that you could train in, such as:

  • Hospitality service assistant
  • Waiter/silver service waiter
  • Bar/cellar person
  • Housekeeper/room attendant
  • Receptionist
  • Head housekeeper
  • Head of reception
  • Front of house manager
  • Duty or hotel supervisor/manager
  • Regional supervisor/manager in a restaurant or pub chain
  • Team leader in hospitality retail outlets
  • Supervisor of hospitality retail outlets


Hospitality supervisors provide vital support to management teams and are capable of independently supervising hospitality services and running shifts. This apprenticeship can help you progress to a more senior role within hospitality by broadening your existing knowledge and gaining important leadership and management skills to help you take on more responsibility.

Course Content

This advanced level apprenticeship will provide you with the skills to become a hospitality professional, such as a Silver Service Waiter/Waitress or Bar/Cellar person in a supervisory capacity.
Delivered in your workplace, the programme covers a range of supervisory skills and underpinning knowledge and includes safe and hygienic working, customer service and creating a positive impression.

Entry Requirement

You should have successfully completed a relevant Level 2 qualification and be employed in this sector (we can help with finding relevant employment).
